Going into the Allstate Sugar Bowl National Prep Classic, defending tournament champions Scotlandville was considered to be one of the teams to beat.
The reigning Division I state champion Hornets were 15-3 and led by one of the nation’s best players in LSU signee Ja’Vonte Smart. All of this gave the Hornets reason to be optimistic heading into Wednesday’s game against Edna Karr, which came into the game with a modest 9-7 record.
All of that made the final result even more stunning.
