WESTWEGO – It was a tale of two halves as Sophie B. Wright battled Lee High of Huntsville, AL in the opening round of the Allstate Sugar Bowl National Prep Classic Wednesday at the Alario Center.
The visiting Generals looked like they would blow into town and blow away the Warriors but Sophie B. Wright lived up to its nickname, storming back in the second half to defeat Lee High 66-55.
Lee High jumped out to a 16-6 lead after one quarter with outstanding defense and a solid offensive performance by Texas A&M commit Kobe Brown, who had nine points to lead the Generals.
The Generals maintained the 10-point edge with a 34-24 lead by halftime as Brown scored 17 in the half. That would not continue in the second half, thanks to a strategic move made by Warriors coach Jason Bertrand.
